Too Much

Too much heat and too much speed, that was the story of today. I started my run late as it too my mechanic over 2 hours to do the brake job I had done today. So I started about noon and ran a little under 5 miles in an hour. I was cutting a far better speed than that maybe about a 10 minute pace, fast for me. The heat and humidity of the day hit me hard. I completed the first couple of miles and really had to walk, I was in a bit of trouble in terms of my body condition. The remaining 3 miles were a mix of run and walk. Overall I am happy with the run but I have to watch the heat and humidity. I can do well but I am very fair and have to respect the sun. I did recover in about 2 hours post run, but it did take the steam out of me.

I will try to run a bit more tonight.

hey there. It was nice here today, i logged in my 2.6 route today. 2 of the races i am registering for are 5k's. The 5k Lancaster Street Fair race on July 28, 2007 and the Run for Life 5k in Sept. Do not know the exact date for that one yet, but will find out this next week. I will be checking out a few more, but those are the two i am definately doing this summer so far. I will let you know when i am registered for both. Hope you are feeling better as the heat got to you today; remember to hydrate hydrate hydrate! talk again soon. cheers, LJ

Laura,
I can't tell you how proud I am of you! Keep it up girl! Look forward to running with you in September.

Rob,
Nice blog! I have a similar story. I was over 240 and a smoker. I went with running to lose weight and lost 60 lbs and even raced my 1st Marathon in March. I have a nice collection of 1/2 marathon finisher medals now too. If you ever want to run in Va Beach let me know. We have several nice ones...Rock and Roll 1/2(SEP), Shamrock (MAR)*full and half, Dismal Swamp/Stomp 1/2 (APR), and Fleet Week 1/2. We have a few other local ones too that I have yet to run because I am constantly away from home (Military). I'll check your blog out while I'm at sea and keep in touch. Later!
